COMPLETE BREATHING & YANTRA YOGA
3-hour Introduction to Yantra Yoga & Breath Awareness

Next Session: May 31st

This workshop is built around one thing: the breath.
Not as a technique to perform — but as something your body already knows how to do, and has slowly forgotten.

Over three hours, we work through the anatomy of breathing, simple exercises to restore its natural completeness, and sequences from Yantra Yoga — an 8th-century Tibetan system that coordinates breath with precise, unhurried movement.

We close with the Nine Purification Breathings, a practice that precedes most formal Tibetan sitting practices. You’ll understand why.

No previous yoga experience needed.

You leave with a practice that belongs to you.

We will breathe together through:

  • Breath Perception. The anatomy of complete breathing. Simple exercises to release tension and restore the body’s natural respiratory pattern.
  • Body & Breath. Yantra Yoga movement sequences. The Nine Purification Breathings. Integration and rest.
  • Short breaks between blocks.

Lily Orlova

The instructor of the workshop

“I came to Yantra Yoga in 2010, when I met the Dzogchen master Chögyal Namkhai Norbu. I had practised Hatha and Iyengar yoga for years before — but this was different. The precision of it. The way breath and movement were inseparable.
I trained with senior instructors Fabio Andrico and Laura Evangelisti over several years and began teaching in Amsterdam in 2018. What I teach now is what I wish someone had shown me earlier: that the breath is always available, and that learning to use it changes everything about how the body holds the day.”

Lily Orlova

About the Method

Yantra Yoga is one of the oldest documented yoga systems in the world. It arrived in the West in the 1970s, brought by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu — one of the foremost Dzogchen masters of the 20th century.
Where Hatha yoga works primarily with posture, Yantra Yoga works with the relationship between movement and breath. The positions are precise. The timing is precise. The result is a practice that works at the level of the nervous system — not just the body.
It was developed for this. The Tibetans knew, long before the term existed, what regulation feels like.

Through simple movements of Yantra Yoga, a sytem that combines breath awareness with mindful movement to harmonize body, energy and mind, we will connect with the ever-present resource of the breath, a practice preserved by Tibetan yogis since the 8th century.

Finally, introducing aflavour of Pranayamas (the regulation of the breath through certain techniques and exercises) by applying the famous «Nine Purifiation Breathings» practice, in which we will focus on our perception on all three levels of Body, Energy and Mind to discover why this practice precedes most of the formal sitting practices.

*This workshop is open to all levels and requires no previous yoga experience.

Dear Vajra Dancers,
We warmly invite you to a two-day retreat in Amsterdam dedicated to the Dance of the Three Vajras, Friday June 20 and Saturday 21, organised by Rangdrolling, with Vajra Dance teacher Maarten Schoon.

The program will be flexible and adapted to the needs of participants.

The Vajra Dance is connected to the Dzogchen teachings of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu and Namkhai Yeshi. If you are interested in joining this retreat but have not received teachings from them, please contact us!

He started learning the dance from Stoffelina Verdonk, followed several teacher trainings and finished his training for the first level in 2018. He could not be officially authorised as a first level Vajra Dance teacher until 2025, due to the passing of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu. Tregchod: The Four Chogshags, or the Four Aspects of Leaving Things As They Are, Retreat with Elias Capriles, September 5-8

The four Chogshags, or four ways of leaving things in peace, as they are, are an essential part of the Dzogchen Upadesha Teachings.  They are the main aspects of not-doing while remaining in Rigpa. However, our condition is not only emptiness, but is also uninterrupted manifestation, and our propensities make the manifestation of thoughts turn into going astray from Rigpa and into delusion. So it is most important in the practice of Dzogchen to know how to return to the condition of Chogshag when we stray from it.

About the instructor:

Elías Capriles is a Santi Maha Sangha Teacher appointed by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, whom he met in 1978 in Boudhanath. He practiced Dzogchen in successive strict 3 months retreats on the Himalayas between 1977 and the end of 1982, after receiving Trekchö (Khregs chod) instructions from H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche and Dungse Thinle Norbu Rinpoche. He also received teachings and transmissions from H.H. Dilgo Khyentse, Dodrub Chen Rinpoche, Chatral Rinpoche and Pema Norbu Rinpoche.

He has had twenty books published, as well as five Internet books, over forty academic papers and twelve book chapters, dealing with Dzogchen and Tibetan Buddhism, transpersonal psychologyand Buddhist philosophy.

He is retired from the Chair of Eastern Studies and the Center for Studies on Africa and Asia the University of The Andes, Mérida, Venezuela, where he taught Philosophy, Buddhism, Asian Religions, Globalization and Asian Aesthetics and Arts.

He has offered conferences in many Universities across the Americas, Europe and Asia, and has also led workshops and courses in many countries.

He managed “spiritual emergency refuges” where “psychotics” would go through the natural self-healing process in which they unwillingly embarked, and has been an ecological activist. He is a member of the Board of the International Transpersonal Association.
